Awadis: Étude No. 3: Ballade

Various strands of inspiration are woven into Étude No. 3: Ballade, as Awadis explains. “My father used to tell me stories about a pianist who lived out his entire existence aboard an ocean liner,” she recalls. “Many years later, I read Alessandro Baricco’s Novecento and was struck by the similarities between its narrative and my father’s tales. When I saw the film adaptation, The Legend of 1900, and heard Ennio Morricone’s evocative score, a profound sense of interconnectedness swept over me, linking past recollections with the present moment. The music left an indelible mark on my soul, inspiring me to compose this piece. Everything seemed to fall into place. The circle was closed, and it felt complete.”
